5plasma vs LCD
By Jeffrey Liu
I was just a regular Joe looking for a good deal for a new 3D TV on line. The brand did not matter to me as much. My biggest struggle was trying to decide between Plasma vs LCD/LED and active 3D vs passive 3D. I am not in the gaming. I just wanna get a great TV so I can enjoy it after long hours of work. I finally picked this Plasma TV with a newer version of the active shutter goggles. So far, it has been a week and I love it. I think I have made the right decision. This Plasma TV still gives me the great quality of TV in 3D or 2D. The goggles are very light weight. The smart TV features are cool and nice. This TV truly delivers as described on Amazon. The only complaint I have about this TV is that its WiFi is weak. I am not sure if it is the problem from the TV or from my wireless connection. The WiFi still delivers what it is supposed to 95% of the time. I think it is still not too bad for a "smart TV". I would recommend this product to anyone.

5How I fixed my 600Hz TV's 3D
By Brian H. Ramsey
I had issues viewing 3D on this 600 Hz TV.

First, I had to get AG-S350 shutter type 3D glasses. I like that they are rechargeable and that you can connect the charging cable while using them. When you get things started, 3D is great and seems better than theaters.

Second, I had an older HDMI cable that I tried to get a 3D experience from. It didn't work. I ended up using the 3D -> 2D function so I could watch the 3D movies in 2D.

Frustrated, I ended up replacing that HDMI cable with a 8 ft, $100, "Monster HDMI Max 3D Hyper Speed 1000" cable from Best Buy. "Monster Series 8Feet M2000HD M2000 HD HDMI 2.43M Cable for HDTV/TV/21Gbps" for $26.99 from Amazon reseller "Gu Cheng" (not me) is the only 600 Hz cable I could find on Amazon as of March 31, 2012. It lists its performance as 21 Gbps, which the back of the "Monster HDMI Max 3D Hyper Speed 1000" packaging claims is necessary for 600 Hz. I don't know if a lesser cable would have worked or not. The LG owner's manual did not help me with minimum specifications. The LG owner's manual was too busy giving me warnings what not to do so they wouldn't get sued.

Third, 3D still didn't work. I went back to the 3D shutter glasses and re-paired them with the TV.

Suddenly the 3D worked and the video was smoother than theaters and had less side images than 3D passive glasses (side images are where you have one main image and two ghost images off to either side of the main image, and is just my own terminology).

Re-pairing LG AG-S350 3D glasses is done according to the instruction book as follows:
1. Press and hold the power button on the 3D glasses for more than 8 seconds, the green LED light should come on.

2. The green LED light will blink three times and then 3D glasses are ready to pair. (they don't mention that you should release the button for it to blink three times)

3. Turn the TV on and switch to 3D mode.

4. Place your 3D glasses within the recommended pairing distance and turn them on.

5. During pairing, the red and green LED lights will blink alternately.

6. When the pairing is complete, the LED light goes off and pairing with the second 3D TV is complete.

I expect you need to re-pair the glasses whenever you change your HDMI cable (such as when you realize the HDMI cable you had wouldn't cut it for a 600Hz TV).

This is a plasma TV, which are becoming less popular. Apparently, plasmas are still vulnerable to burn in when left on a picture too long. Other than the delicacy of it, I love the TV. My only real complaint is that only the HDMI 1 connection is able to transmit audio. I have seperate audio equipment for that, but it is annoying to coordinate all the different parts.

If I had known the trouble I would end up having, I probably would have bought a passive 3D system. But now that I know how to set things up, I am glad to have the superior 3D technology (until they come out with the glasses-less version in a few years).

Don't forget to tip the delivery men for doing the muscle work and for making sure it works.

5Love my LG 60pm6700 plasma tv
By joey t
Received the tv Friday, April 6th, 2012

Did a lot of reviewing prior to my purchase, read many comments about led and plasma tvs and
visited 4 different stores, some on more than one occasion. I picked the plasma because I like watching sports and the 600hz does the job for motion. Also, the LG 60" pm6700 offers
the best picture and the most options for the money.

Purchased the tv from Amazon, because they have the best overall price, extended warranty and I totally trust their shipping.

From the shipping to the clear picture quality, to the sound, to all of the many options that this tv has to offer, I could not be happier.

3Not the Cheapest Bargain TV, but a Safe Bet.
By Tim
Search for 32" 720p TVs on amazon or anywhere on the web. There is a bunch of them ranging from around $200 to up to over $400. This one price wise sits right in the middle, so we would expect it to be average in the bunch so I will grade it as such. Every bargain TV has similar picture quality so don't waste time trying to find an advantage there. Things that will change are TV depth, connection, extra hardware/software, and how pretty/ugly it looks from the front.
The TV depth is pretty thick on this one, but you would be hard pressed to find a TV in the range that is not. Westinghouse does make a 32" thinner TV at around 2' think that sells for sub $300, but I can not recommend a Westinghouse TV due my experiences with there bad quality. That being said this TV falls as we expect with a average size and therefore passes.
The connection on this TV do not really disappoint me personally. I know people like to run everything with HDMI these days, but I couldn't honestly desire to hook up more that one maybe two devices to this TV. I see this device TV as useful in like a kids room, home gym, sports bar, etc. I would think this would be a good centerpiece for a living room with your bluray player, surround sound, PS3 and Wii connected to it. If that is what you want then look else where as this TV will not work for that. I do consider its connectivity average, although I know some other budget TVs were nice enough to throw a 3 HDMI on there enormous backsides.
This TV, in my opinion does succeed in its availability of extra hardware/software. It does have the somewhat helpful game mode if that is your intended use. It also has a more usable usb than most budget TVs and does a good job of receiving photos, videos and music. It also has many eco features, but these I find less appealing. The worst is the auto dimming, which may save you $5 bucks a year, but is annoying. On expensive TVs these auto dimming features can work mostly unnoticed, but with these budget TV it seems to jump down or up in brightness and you find yourself adjusting your eyes to the new screen light. This can of course be turned off which I would recommend. Overall above average here.
This TV is not as attractive looking as you would expect a big brand to be. The budget Samsung and LG TVs look pretty decent in my opinion, but this one missed out. As the TV unit is visible whenever it is on or off I find this fact kind of disappointing.
Overall why three stars? This TV is fine by all means, and a great price if you want a safer brand name budget TV. I don't know if you would want to spend the extra $50-100 to get a thinner better looking TV, but you may want to consider it for long term satisfaction. My personal preference, and the one I took was to spend almost $100 less and get a equally bulky and ugly budget TV from a less known brand. The savings there was why I can not give this average performing TV four stars.

Cons over previous L32C3 model:
Less speaker power
Larger Bezel
No IPS panel

Pro over previous L32C3 modle:
It is cheaper to make and therefore cheaper to purchase.

5Excellent LED TV
By Eugene Evans
I am very impressed with this tv so far...
The TV itself is very sleek and modern looking.Its one of thinnest LED's I have seen and would be great for mounting on the wall.The thin black border is very nice and actually makes the screen look even bigger!!
The stand is also very modern looking and all the trim is a nice glossy black finish.
The picture quality is amazing as well.I went from a 47" Vizio to this LG and its a world of difference!!..The colors are very vibrant and the black is dense.The adjustments and settings are very easy to use and can make a world of difference!!..Especially if you find the codes for THX settings!!
The sound is ok,for this one.I would say its the only thing that could use use some improvement.
Overall this TV is the best bang for the buck!!..I have owned about 15 LCD/LED tv's and so far, this is one of the best by far!!

4USB reads only music and pictures.. The rest is good
By Sid
When we purchased the tv there were no reviews as it had not even hit the market. so we took a chance hoping new technology is always better than any old one. We had a budget of under 650$ and I had some basic requirements like a HD input and USB ports. We have been using the tv for a little less than 3 weeks now.

PROS
The tv is packed with intelligent technology like light sensor to match the lighting of the screen to that of the room for comfortable viewing and clear sound i guess to make the levels of dialogues stand out from background noise in movies.

The tv has a very quick refresh rate.. reduces the stress on the eyes if you are a TV surfer.

It is extremely simple to operate.. one would think that latest tech came with complicated controls.. but the remote and the control options put you at ease immediately.

There are two HD input slots for your cable box and your PS/Xbox etc..

CONS
Now this is a BIG one and has me upset to no end. The USB reads only music and pictures. It doesn't play movies etc. One of the main reasons for me to purchase the TV was that and it let me down.

So if you think you don't need the USB like I do, then you have no reason to shy away from this TV.

5Buy it fast! It`s the Best!
By aliwishes
My last one of the same brand lasted 10 years. This has fast setup-easy programming-great picture-awesome sound-reliable history-If you have more money than brains you could buy a more expensive model-and still not get a better product-or deal-or brand-and their microwaves are always in my kitchen-and last longer than other brands.

5Great tv for the Price!
By JR
The previous reviewer got this tv from the same place I did. Sears had the best price for this size tv after I checked around. I was impressed with the service I got there as well. Panasonic is a quality name and is tops for trouble free manufacturers for tv's, and this one has a great picture for my needs. Since I got an HDTV cable box the image is crystal clear. I also think the sound quality is great. It's not a fancy tv with LED or 120MHz, or wifi capabilty, but those tv's cost a lot more. But for a non-LED this screen is thin. As for 60MHZ vs. 120, you may notice a difference, but I don't think it's worth paying extra to avoid the occasional jitter. If you want streaming you are better of with getting another device for this such as a PS3. Many reviewers with wifi capable tv's built in complain they don't work well or need adapters anyway. For my needs this tv is first class. I love Amazon, but they don't always have the best price.

5My Fourth Panasonic HD!
By Smart Shopper
This is my forth Panasonic HD (all are still in use) so I was not looking to spend alot of money. Got this from Sears today for $500. The picture is great for cable TV. You would not notice the 60MHz blurs unless someone told you to look for them. No problems at all with the viewing angle. It does not have internet access but if you have PS3 or a Roku, you're all set. I looked at several brands in the store and the pictures all look the same - the only difference between them is price and quality. If your budget is $500, this is the one to get!

5Comments Actually Pertaining to this Specific TV Model
By W
I decided to buy LG's (well-reviewed) 42LK520 at the exact time it was discontinued and no longer available. That's what I get for procrastinating. The replacement for 2011's 42LK520 is 2012's 42CS570. On paper, the basic specifications are almost the same as the 42LK520. Since new-model reviews aren't available yet, I had no reason to not get the 42CS570 given the similarities.

The owner's manual available from LG's support website details the inputs, outputs, and menu options available on the TV. The manual appears to be accurate and only covers the 42CS570 and 47CS570 models (ie - not too much "depends on model" content). Specifications are finally up on LG's product page, though they still have some errors. For instance, they only list one rear AV input. In fact, there is also a second, side AV input.

The 42CS570 is a 42-inch, 1080P, 120Hz, LCD TV listed for $699.99. The screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 150,000:1 contrast ratio. On the rear panel, there are 2 HDMI, 2 Component, 1 AV (Composite), 1 RGB (PC), 1 Antenna / Cable (RF), and 1 Audio (RGB / DVI) inputs, with 1 Optical Audio output. On the side panel, there are: 1 USB, 1 HDMI, and 1 AV (Composite) inputs, with 1 Headphone Audio output. The channel, volume, and other controls are touch-sensitive areas on the front of the TV.

The TruMotion menu option has two components: De-Judder and De-Blur. Both components take a value between 0 and 10. There are three pre-set options: Off (0, 0), Low (3, 3), High (7, 7). A fourth option, User, allows for either component to be set to preference. The TV comes with a power-saving / screen-dimming feature turned On. At night, I actually thought this was sort of nice. During the day I turned the feature Off. Otherwise, I thought the picture settings out-of-the-box were actually pretty good. Setup was quick and easy.

According to an online source, the TV (like LG's other 1080P models) has only IPS panels. My TV has the following product code: 42CS570-UD-AUSYLUR. Other online sources stated that the "Y" in the 4th-from-right position indicates an IPS panel.

The shipping dimensions (W x H x D) are roughly: 48 inches x 30 inches x 6 inches.

I replaced an old 32-inch Panasonic CRT TV. So, obviously this LG HD TV is a noticeable upgrade. That said, I can't really comment on how the screen or engine compares to other HD TVs. I'm receiving over-the-air HD channels through a cheap, GE indoor antenna I've had for years, similar to the 24731. I have my Wii connected through a Monoprice Composite cable. Through a Monoprice HDMI cable, I'm running a Panasonic DMP-BDT220 Blu-ray player I purchased for Blu-ray content, streaming content, and miscellaneous content I have on my Synology DS211J NAS acting as a DLNA server. Just for giggles, I also ran a 25-foot Monoprice VGA cable (with audio) from my laptop to the TV. Everything works as well as expected. Picture is great for all uses. Sound is good as well. With realistic expectations, I haven't run into anything to complain about yet.

If you have other hardware to handle "smart" services, or just don't care for those services, and don't care to be on the cutting edge of 3D and LED panels, this is an ideal TV. As a 1080P, 120Hz TV with a good set of inputs, this is a quality HD TV that lists for $100 less than last year's nearly identical model.

Obviously, I can't comment on the device's longevity. I've run plenty of test scenarios, but I've only had it for a few days. Time will tell. Advertised warranty is 1 year parts, 1 year labor.

For the record, I wanted nothing to do with 3D. I had to consider screen glare. I felt a 42-inch TV best fit my living room layout and I had a budget to meet. For my budget, I preferred 120Hz LCD over 60Hz LED-LCD and I preferred 1080P LCD over 720P plasma. Compare to other 42-inch LG models for price and features.

42LM6200 = 42-inch, 3D, 1080P, 120Hz, Smart, LED-LCD TV listed for $1,299.99
42LM5800 = 42-inch, 3D, 1080P, 120Hz, LED-LCD (not yet available)
42LS5700 = 42-inch, 1080P, 120Hz, Smart, LED-LCD TV listed for $1,099.99
42LS3400 = 42-inch, 1080P, 60Hz, LED-LCD TV listed for $719.99
42CS560 = 42-inch, 1080P, 60Hz, LCD TV listed for $629.99
42PM4700 = 42-inch, 3D, 720P, 600Hz, Smart, plasma TV listed for $699.99
42PA4500 = 42-inch, 720P, 600Hz, plasma TV listed for $549.99

5Use reviews correctly
By Lisa
Please review the specific model not just the brand. I've had LG for years and have been very happy. Just writing a review to dump on the brand not evaluate this particular model isn't helping the other customers like myself make a decision.

4Amazing picture and Great value for your money
By handyman
I bought this TV to replace my previous Panasonic TV which lasted for 7 long years and 4 moves without a scratch or a problem.
The GT50 produces stunning pictures, some of the best I have seen. I looked at a number of different TVs and brands from edge lit LEDs, back lit LEDs to Plasmas. This TV has one of the best picture quality in my price range. It also offers a comprehensive list of practical features ( no gimmicks like gesture response etc). The on board dual core processor offers smooth performance while browsing, watching online movies etc. No question about this offering the best value for your money in terms of both features and functionality. I also like the look of the TV. I am not a big fan of the edge less design offered by brands such as Samsung or LG. The GT50 has a thin glass like edge which actually makes the picture stand out better against the background.

The only negatives I have is, I wish it came with 3D glasses. The glasses themselves cost 50$ a piece and for a family of 4 I am looking at another 200$.I also want to praise the SD card reader for allowing me to upload my downloaded .avi files and enjoying them on the TV.
